Alice Marie (Lasley) Marshall, 71, walked on April 16, 2025, at Weber’s Adult Foster Care Home in Gaylord.
She was born June 25, 1953, in Petoskey, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Pikur) Lasley. She was one of thirteen children in her family and grew up in Cross Village, MI. She was a Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB) enrolled citizen.
Alice married Stanley Thomas Marshall in June of 1971. Together they raised two daughters, Mindy and Brooke in Bliss, MI. Alice and Stan divorced in 1992 and Alice moved to Petoskey, but Bliss always remained home.
Alice worked for the DNR at Wilderness and Petoskey State Parks, retiring in the mid 1990’s. She also served as the Bliss Township Treasurer for a number of years. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, tending her various gardens, and keeping a tidy home. More than anything, Alice cherished her children and would do anything for them.
She is survived by her daughters Mindy (Brandon) Taylor of Levering and Brooke (Jen) Towns of Ypsilanti; grandchildren Oscar Taylor, and Juilet and Olivia Towns; as well as three sisters, Jennie Heeres, Marjorie (Jim) Janis, Mary (Jerry) Niswander; 3 brothers, Henry Lasley, Sam Lasley, and Richard (Sue) Lasley; sister-in-law Ruth Sampson; and by nieces and nephews, too numerous to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Eddie, John (Gloria), Lee (Mary) and Tom (Barbara) Lasley; and by two sisters, Doris Lasley and Leona (Vilan) Kalbfleisch. Should we have missed anyone in this list, know it was not with ill intent.
There will be a funeral held at Bliss Missionary Church on April 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a gathering of family and friends the hour prior.
Friends and family wishing to make a charitable donation in her memory are asked to please consider the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) or the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians.
