Ann Bodzick Obituary

Ann Janette Bodzick, age 89, died peacefully with her daughters by her side Sunday, February 28th, 2021 at Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs. She was born on May 25, 1931 in Petoskey, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Schmalzreid) Walker. She was a member of the 1949 graduating class from Pellston High School and received her degree in Nursing from Saginaw General Hospital in 1953. The same year, on April 11th, she married the love of her life, Raymond Bodzick.

Ray and Ann were married for 68 years. Their unconditional love and devotion mixed with humor and joy, is something one can only hope to achieve in a lifetime.

Ann was a nurse for many years and continued her career as the Nursing Director at the Emmet County Care Facility (now known as Bay Bluffs) for 25 years. Her dedication and passion for tending to others was uncanny. In her final years, she resided at Bay Bluffs and the care she showed for others was reciprocated onto her.

Ann’s kindness and faith in others was truly a gift. She will be remembered not only as an amazing caregiver, but as a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and a devoted grandmother. The meaning behind the name, “Ann” means Grace. And there could not be a better word to describe this incredible woman.  As the family mourns, they also rejoice in the memories they cherish and the love she has passed on.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Bodzick of Indian River; her children, Ruth (Bill) McCullough of Harbor Springs, Charles (Teryl Abel) Bodzick of Indianapolis, Indiana, Monica (Marty Sydow) Long of Indian River and Mike (Coleen) Bodzick of Larks Lake; seven grandchildren, Tara (Jay Martin) Long, Erin (Zach Lear) Long, Alicia Long-Noragon, Billy McCullough, Cori McCullough, Megan Bodzick and Abby Bodzick; and seven great grandchildren, Jaxson and Cash Noragon, MacKenzie, Bolden and Isabella Long-Lear and Tyias and Asa Martin.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carol Alexander; and her infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bodzick.
