Ann Lois (Geary) Iverson

The Family of Ann Lois Geary Iverson is saddened to share the news that our mom and granny passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 93. Ann was born on July 5, 1932, to Harold and Lessie Geary in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Ann met her husband Arthur T Iverson, Jr, aka Terry, at Redford High School in Detroit (her seat was by the pencil sharpener which he frequented regularly), and they were married after their junior year at the University of Michigan.  She is survived by her children Dale, Sara (Alan), and Peter (Carrie); and grandchildren Judd (Vanessa), Emma, Michael, and Lydia. Ann is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Lessie Geary, and her husband.

Ann’s passions for place included the City of Detroit and its cultural institutions and sports teams, and the Les Cheneaux Islands in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her passions for nature and creatures included a host of dogs and horses, most notably her super companion Abby the Wonder Rescue Dog. Reading and music, needlepoint and knitting, relentless physical activity, sailing, travel, close friends, and service were all important parts of her life. She took special pride in being one of the few women in U of M’s Ross School of Business, graduating in the class of 1957, and in her decades-long career and friendships at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, Bloomfield Hills, MI.

An informal celebration of Ann’s life will be held at a date, time, and place to be announced. Our family is profoundly grateful to the staff and community at Independence Village in Petoskey, and to the staff of NorthStar Palliative Care and Hospice of Michigan, all of whom in the last few months helped bring Ann to a peaceful conclusion to a very good life.
