Ann Susan Malenfant

Ann Susan Malenfant passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025, at Emergency in McLaren Cheboygan Campus. Ann was born in Cheboygan and graduated from Cheboygan Catholic High School in 1973. Ann worked for years as a cosmetologist and most recently worked for Walmart for 15+ years.

Growing up Ann enjoyed horseback riding, camping, and fishing with her friends and, more recently, hunting for rocks in the lower and upper peninsulas. Ann was very creative and enjoyed doing many crafts, such as drawing, cooking, sewing, quilt making, rug making, and gardening.  She loved cats and had many cat companions over the years. She often took in strays who showed up at her door hoping for food and shelter. Ann enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brothers, Myrt and Charles of Cheboygan, and her sisters, Nancy Mullett of Indian River and Patty Malenfant (Dean Troxel) of Lusby, Maryland; nephew James Mullett (Kayla) and great-nephews Ryker and Wesley Mullet of Indian River and great-niece Kira Hypio of Wolverine, Michigan.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Gale (Riggs) and Myrt Malenfant, brother-in-law James Mullett, and niece, Tara Mullett.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Eagles, 626 N. Main St, Cheboygan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her name be sent to the Cheboygan Humane Society, 1536 Hackleburg Rd, Cheboygan, MI 49721.

The family is currently in need of finding good homes for Ann’s orphaned cats.
