Anthony “Tony” Ellis Lee, 80, died September 16, 2022 at Grayling Nursing and Rehab Community.
He was born on February 12, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of Frederick C. and Gladys M. (Dorrien) Lee. He attended high school there and was a track and field star and graduated in 1960.
Anthony was married to Shirley Sharon McGuire and together they raised a family. He ran his own cosmetology business out of his home and taught cosmetologist classes in Flint. He was a Jack of all trades; also working in construction, painting cars, and coaching track.
He later remarried Sandra (West Brook) Lee and moved to El Cajon, California. He liked to golf, fish, water ski, and tend to his expansive rose garden. He was an Elder in the Sault Ste. Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians, and that was always a very important part of his life. He loved cats and being with his family. Sandra and Anthony moved back to northern Michigan in 2021 to be closer to his children.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee; his sons, Anthony (Tula) Lee of Petoskey, Mark Lee of Alanson, and Troy (Linda) Lee of Howell; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Elizabeth (the late Bill) Goetz and Teresa (Lorne) Dreger, and brother-in-law, James Becker.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; sister, Carol Becker; and step-daughter, Michelle “Missy” Carr.
There are no services planned at this time.
The Lee family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Grayling Nursing and Rehab Community and Grayling Hospice for their wonderful and attentive care of Anthony.
Arrangements are in care of Stone Funeral Home (Petoskey).
