During his high school years, Art helped his dad move and raise houses in the downriver area.  Hard work is what Art loved and working along side his father was an honor.  After graduation, Art sailed the Great Lakes aboard the Ford Freighter (the Clay) where he worked for 4-5 years.  Art loved sailing the Great Lakes and working on the freighters as did his father (on the Henry Ford) and his uncle Chet (on the Benson Ford).

Art married his wife, Bernadine, in 1971, and moved to Wolverine, Mi.  They enjoyed a wonderful new life together up north until she passed away in 1981.

Art lived up north for over 50 Years.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the great out doors. Art had many hobbies.  He loved carving wood ducks, and painting pictures of ducks and freighters.  His eye for detail was incredible.  Art enjoyed casino trips, snowmobiling, family reunions, and trips to Oklahoma with his friend Elaine. Art was known for his laughter, wisdom and stories.  He was a gentle, kind man and was a friend to everyone.
