Audrey Valot Obituary

Audrey Mae Valot (Bettis), 94, of Cheboygan, passed away on September 21, 2022 in Petoskey. She was born in Vanderbilt, Michigan on May 4, 1928, the daughter of Ralph and Irene (St. Aubin) Bettis.

Audrey spent her childhood in Vanderbilt before moving to Cheboygan when she was 12 and graduated from Cheboygan High School. On June 16, 1945, she married the love of her life, Edward Valot in Cheboygan.

Audrey and Edward managed the Norlan Inn Restaurant in Cheboygan and she also cleaned homes in Point Nipigon. Audrey loved to be outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. She got her last deer when she was 83 years old. Audrey also enjoyed canning, gardening and watching deer and other critters in her back yard.  Most of all, she loved her daily phone calls with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of AARP and loved watching Joel Osteen and Fox News.

Audrey is survived by her children, Darlene (Jim) Fulkerth, Marlene (Anthony) Tyndall, Charlene (Mark) Wilson and Bill (Kim) Valot; 9 grandchildren, Tammy (Bill) Goodroe, Pamela Disney, Darla Worden and Joe Friday Jr. Sean (Sonya) Graham, Shannon (Paul) Harney, Traci (Chris) Smithwick, Tabbatha (Ryan) Dann, and Ashley Valot. 22 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Janet Valot, brother-in-law, Wayne Valot, son-in-law Charles Graham, special friends, Lucille Clark and Bev Maxwell as well as many nieces and nephews.

Audrey is preceded by her husband, Edward, infant son, Michell, two grandchildren, David Wilson and Melissa Friday, 9 brothers and sisters, son-in-law, Joe Friday, and her loving dog, Maggie Mae.

A funeral will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27 at 11am with family greeting friends one hour prior. Burial will take place after the service at Pinehill Cemetery in Cheboygan.

Memorial contributions in Audrey’s honor may be directed to Always and Forever Midwest Animal Sanctuary, Cheboygan Humane Society or McLaren Hospice.

A special thank you to all who helped Audrey with lawn care, walking her dogs, bringing meals and all the other thoughtful support.
