Aurelie Francis (Brindamour) James, 91, of Cheboygan passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Aurelie was born August 3, 1930, the daughter of Stanley and Ruby (Macoit) Brindamour in Detroit.
In 1952, Aurelie married Wilton “Deed” James in Detroit. She loved her kids and grandchildren fiercely. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing beautiful quilts and most importantly, caring for her family.
Aurelie had an “open door policy” when it came to company. Everyone had a place to stay. She always welcomed anyone into her home, including complete strangers. She always had something to eat, whether it was a full cookie jar or sloppy Joes in the crockpot.
Aurelie enjoyed being a homemaker and was a devout Catholic. She taught 2nd grade Catechism in the 1970s at St. Charles Catholic Church.
Aurelie is survived by her children, Diane (Tom) LaHaie, Tom James, Robert James, and Cynthia (Jason) Eberly, ten grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Dillon, Edward Sheppard, Allen (Kady) LaHaie, Jeremy (Shawna) James, Jessica James, Shyla James, Sara (Derrick Brown) Ashbaugh, Michael (Jon Cutler) Ashbaugh, Jenna (Nick) Lindholm, Kathryn (Tim) Finkbeiner, 23 great grandchildren, four (with one more on the way) great, great grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Johnson, a sister-in-law, Marion Brindamour, and her beloved cats, Missy Black and Missy Orange.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilton, a grandson, Patrick LaHaie, and three siblings, Jean and Roy Brindamour and Raymond Aber.
A memorial mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, October 7 at 1pm with family greeting friends beginning at noon. Father Duane Wachowiak will officiate. A private interment will take place at a later date at Tower Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Aurelie’s honor may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church.
