Barbara (Welch) Hancock

Barbara Jo Hancock (nee Welch), of Boyne City, MI passed away peacefully at her home on her
84th birthday July 27, 2022. She was born July 27, 1938, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of the
late Robert and Geraldine (nee Brooks) Welch.

Barbara grew up and resided in Kalamazoo most of her adult life. As a child, she spent many
summers on her grandparent’s farm in Boyne City. In 1998, she and her beloved husband,
Gene moved permanently to Boyne City where she was an active member of the Boyne Valley
Garden Club, the First Presbyterian Church, and the Boyne Eta Nu Charities.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gene Hancock; her son Jeffrey Hancock (Diana
Julie); her brother Tom Welch (Ruth); grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, and Erica Hancock; and
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jerry Rohr (Russell).

A memorial service for Barbara will be Friday, August 12, 2022, to begin at 11 AM at the First
Presbyterian Church, 401 S Park St, Boyne City, MI. A luncheon will follow the service in the
church’s dining room.
