Barbara Elaine (Burdick) Schoreack, 77, of Boyne Falls, Michigan passed away on September 6, 2024, at Mallard Cove in Petoskey, Michigan. Barbara was born on May 11, 1947, to Harold and Martha (Lejkowski) Burdick in Detroit, MI. She grew up in Detroit and moved to San Francisco, California where she began her family with her late husband, Dennis. In her later years she moved back to Michigan, this time settling in Petoskey where she purchased a fixer upper farm and turned into a beautiful oasis at which her friends and family loved to gather. Her final years of life were spent in Boyne Falls, MI where she made even more friendships within Walloon Lake Community Church.
Barbara worked for more than 25 years at Boyne Highlands where she made deep friendships with her coworkers and regulars at the lodge. She loved meeting new people who were visiting northern Michigan and working with a tight knit crew.
Barbara was an avid bird watcher and caretaker, spending countless hours feeding and watching many varieties of them who loved to visit her. She adored cats and dogs especially who made her house a home. Numerous dedicated hours from her and her family went into building on her farm property which transformed it into a serene haven with a large garden, pond with a waterfall, and cabins.
Barbara was a gentle-hearted person who made it a point every day to do something kind for someone else, a tradition her family continues to implement for themselves. Above all things she was a devoted and adoring mother and grandmother, she was tireless and selfless in her care for her family.
She is survived by her daughter Tracy (Jason) Barr; grandchildren Riley Barr, Jacob Barr, and Trevor Carrier; and longtime partner Richard Nieswander.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Schoreack; sons Jefferey Schoreack and James Schoreack; and brother William Burdick.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday September 17, 2024, at Joy Valley Cemetery in Petoskey, Michigan.
