Barbara Virginia Kochans, known affectionately as Ginny, passed away on May 5, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on May 23, 1930, Ginny devoted her life to her family and friends, sharing 72 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Elmer Kochans. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Joyce and Valerie. She often shared with them two pieces of advice. Your friends will come and go but no matter what, you’ll always have your sister and second, get an education so you can take care of yourself. She was a loving mother-in-law to Bill Riordan and Erick Pfeifer and her joy was multiplied with her four grandchildren, Kyle, Ericka, Amy and Brian and further enriched by her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Ethan, Colton, and Carly.
While raising her two daughters and living with her husband, Ginny found a career she loved at the Farmington Community Center and worked there as the Assistant Director of Education for many years. Aside from her family and work, Ginny had a passion for various hobbies that enriched her life and those around her. She loved to travel, discovering new places and experiences. An avid reader, painter, golfer, and bowler, Ginny also found joy in hosting parties and bringing people together. Her volunteer work included playing the bells at Zion Lutheran Church and organizing events for local artists, demonstrating her commitment to her community and the arts.
Ginny will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and joy.
