Betty Kerridge Obituary

Betty Lou (Standish) Kerridge, 85 of Harbor Springs, Michigan, passed away on June 18, 2021 in Rudyard, Michigan.

Daughter of Floyd and Anna (Taylor) Standish, Betty Lou was born on May 24, 1936 at her home in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Betty Lou grew up in the town her ancestors settled, Cross Village, Michigan. She attended Sogonosh Valley School until 8th grade and then transferred to Harbor Springs High School and graduated in 1953.

On September 12, 1959, she married Herman Kerridge in Cross Village at the Presbyterian Church.

Betty Lou’s first job was as a secretary for the car finance company, CIT. She became a homemaker and raised her three daughters while they were children. After they were grown she was housekeeper and finished working as a biller for the Burns Clinic and Internal Medicine.

Betty Lou loved visiting with her family and grandchildren. They were everything to her and she enjoyed the time she got with everyone. She enjoyed taking trips to her daughter Cyndi in Wisconsin and going to concerts with her daughter Becky. Betty Lou was very close with all of her grandchildren despite the distance between them. She was tech savvy and stayed connected to them through the internet.  Betty Lou loved her Hen Parties with her family. She also liked puzzles and watching Alex Trebek on Jeopardy.

Betty Lou was a forward thinker for her time. She taught her daughters that they could do anything anyone else could. She was the sweetest woman. Anyone that met her fell in love with her.

She was a member and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs. She was able to continue being a member through live-stream even when she moved in with her daughter. Betty Lou was a member of the Session also. She also attended the General Assembly in Hartford, Connecticut.

Betty Lou is survived by her daughters: Becky (Joe) Krus of Manistee, Michigan, Sandy Hough of Rudyard, Michigan, and Cyndi (Wes) Huibregtse of Plymouth, Wisconsin; her grandchildren: Michelle Brabant, John Hough, Pietje (Scot) Markus, and David Huibregtse; her great-grandchildren: Chase Markus, Madelyn Markus, Evelyn Markus, Ethan Brabant, and Danielle Brabant; her brother-in-law Daryl Kerridge; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Herman Kerridge; her parents; her parents-in-law; and her and siblings and their spouses.
