Betty McFarland Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Betty Lou McFarland (Grandma Betty), 85, of Carp Lake on January 20, 2024 at McLaren Highland Cottage. She was born and raised in Levering, Michigan and after working over 40 years at the Burns Clinic, she retired to Paradise Lake.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Betty was the beloved mother of Kathy, Kerry (Suzanne) and Leslie (Tamyra) and Steve Kirsch, and proud grandmother of Kelsey (Christopher Adams), Tori (Tyler Boyd), Benjamin, Alisha (Kristopher Konicki) along with great grandchildren Chandler, Kole and Ashton, Baby Boyd due in April, and KJ and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Alice Reed, sister Beverly Lund, and brother Dwayne Reed.

She lived a full life of flower gardening, bird watching, baking, and enjoying sunsets on the lake. Most of all she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Joe and Diania Nemcik for their loving care and devotion throughout the years.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pellston Food Pantry or McLaren Hiland Cottage.
