Betty May (Moore) VanOrman

Betty May VanOrman 73, of Levering passed away in Traverse City, surrounded by her four children on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

She was born June 27, 1950 in Cheboygan, Michigan to Ronald and Leona (Cassidy) Moore, the youngest of 6 children.

 She is survived by her children, Trevor 49, Vanessa 36, Jared 34, and Alex 33, in addition to her grandchildren Will 14, and Sophie 4.

 Betty graduated from a trade school and became a beautician. Eventually, starting and operating her own business for 35years in Levering, MI. She loved her work, especially interacting with her customers whom quickly became her friends.  As a devoted mother her children always came first. The only thing comparable to her love for her children was the monumental love of her grandchildren. Beloved by many, she was a pillar in her children's and grandchildren's lives, she loved nothing more than to spend as much time with them as possible.  She was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, of which she was not expected to survive.  She eventually won that battle and returned home where she belonged for an additional 19 years. 

Visitation will take place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church  at noon in Mackinaw City, MI followed by a 1:00 p.m. service; reception at Audie’s Banquet Room at 2:30 p.m., concluding with burial at the Bliss Cemetery.
