Our beloved, Bonnie Holck, 79, of Conway, Michigan, entered eternal life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Petoskey. Born on Mackinac Island to the late Eunice and Chester Hughey, Bonnie was raised in Northern Michigan and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1962.
She met her husband, Ron Holck, through his father, and they were married on September 4, 1965. Together, they raised two daughters and built a life in Frankenmuth.
Bonnie worked for several years at Bronner’s Christmas Store before beginning her career as a para-professional at Bridgeport-Spaulding High School. Drawing from her studies in Social Work and Nursing at Saginaw Valley State College and Delta College, as well as her retail experience, Bonnie helped lead the school’s Marketing Class and managed the student-run store. She had a gift for recognizing students in need and was a tireless advocate for them, often making a lasting impact on their lives.
A devoted DECA advisor and supporter of student activities, Bonnie never missed a boys’ basketball game, often traveling long distances, even once immediately following surgery. Her dedication extended beyond the school; she served on the Juvenile Court Citizens Advisory Council from 1992–1996 and was an advocate for the Juvenile Center Expansion campaign. In 2010, she served on the Bridgeport-Spaulding School Board.
Bonnie loved spending time with her family. Watching her grandson during karate and granddaughters dance recitals and dance competitions were some of her favorites. Recently she became an avid Lions fan.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Ron Holck of Conway; her daughters, Denise (Paul) Yon of Fowlerville, MI, and Christy (John) Finsterbusch of Des Moines, WA; grandchildren Gage Yon and Ava Yon. She was greeted with open arms as she entered Heaven, by her Granddaughter Willow Rose Yon.
There will be a visitation at Stone Funeral Home (2098 E. Mitchell Road, Petoskey, MI 49770) on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be directed to the Willow Yon Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship in care of Denise Yon at 9550 Sherwood Road, Fowlerville, MI, 48836.
