Brian Tonge

Brian L. Tonge, 57, of Alanson passed away Dec. 29th at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey following a long illness.   

Brian was born Dec. 17th, 1964 in Port Huron to Frank and Joan Tonge.  He graduated from Cros-Lex High School in 1983, where he excelled in sports, earning All-Area honors in basketball.    He graduated in 1987 from Ferris State University with a Marketing / Pro Golf Management Bachelors degree. He went on to a career as a AAA insurance agent, and he operated the AAA office in Petoskey for 2 decades.   

Brian had a lifelong passion for sports, especially golf. He was a long time member of Petoskey BayView County Club .  He helped coach several youth sports teams.  He also loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter.  He was a member of the Eagles, and was a parishioner at Cross in the Woods Catholic Church in Indian River.  He will be remembered for his great smile and infectious personality.  

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary (Biolo) Tonge, two sons Trevor and Greg, and daughter Brieanne Raines.  Also survived by 3 grandchildren, his sister Beth (Paul) Leon, and a brother Matthew (Kay) Tonge.    He was preceeded in death by his parents, and his sister Gina (Tonge) Jacobs.    At Brian’s request he will be cremated,  there will not be a funeral service.

The family is planning to have a remembrance of life  gathering at a later date.
