Calvin Charboneau Obituary

Calvin W. Charboneau of Cheboygan, Michigan went to be with our Lord on December 21st, 2025.

Cal, Bobbo, Uncle Bo, Uncle Bobbo - as he was affectionately called by family members and many friends - was born in Cheboygan, Michigan on April 19th, 1933 to Edward and Florine (Trapp) Charboneau . On 11/28/1953 he married the love of his life Linda Wallace. On January 30th, 1956, they welcomed their only child Karen into the world. Karen made her home in Cheboygan and gave them four grandchildren - Angela, Joshua , Glenn and Jared.

Cal loved watching his family enjoy time together at the lake and on the beach. Every Summer, relatives would come from all over to spend weeks or weekends with Cal and Linda. They loved to host for family and friends. Cal retired from Cheboygan area schools as a supervisor of maintenance where he worked for many years. After retirement, Cal stayed plenty busy as a member of the Moose Lodge and Lions Club.  He didn’t sit still for long. He and Linda also did some traveling. Cal enjoyed collecting antiques and antique bottles.  He liked rock hunting, playing golf, bowling, cards, cribbage and spending time with family and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Florine, his wife Linda, his sister Lavona , brother Gordon and grandson Glenn. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Pellenz, his granddaughter Angela (Mike) Spaleny , grandsons Joshua ( Courtney ) Viau , and Jared Pellenz. His grandchildren Michelle (Dakota) Reece, Samuel(Taylor Belanger) Spaleny, Emily Viau, Lily Viau , Cayde Pellenz and Nora Pellenz. His great great grandchildren Aleah Reece and Owen Reece. Aleah lovingly named him “Peepa”, which he loved and proudly answered to. Also surviving are one brother in law , two sisters in laws, many nieces and nephews, their families and many cousins and friends.  The family chooses to remember Cal privately at this time, with a celebration of life in the spring or summer.
