Carloe Joseph Carter

Carloe Joseph Carter, 53 of Oden, entered the sanctuary of God on May 3, 2018.

Joe was born in Chicago, IL. to Carloe and Barbara (Splinter) Carter. He grew up in Sauk Village and attended Bloom Trail High School.

On September 4, 1986, he married Carrie Kuchta in Petoskey, MI. Together, they made their home in Northern Michigan and raised two daughters.

Over the years, Joe worked various places, including Monroe Environmental, N J White Associates, and DCL in Charlevoix formerly Bay Shore Steel. Although he was a mechanical designer by trade, he was a carpenter at heart.

In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing, painting and working on vehicles. He liked to play his guitar and drums and listen to his extensive record collection. Papa time was the joy of his heart. He molded his grandkids in a very special way through art, woodworking and music. They will surely remember the many inside jokes and nicknames and of course, "Owl Communication". Time with his grandchildren was very precious to him.  

Joe is survived by his wife, Carrie Carter; daughters, Keriann Carter and Samantha (Edwin) Escobar; grandchildren, Braxton Esper, Edwin Escobar and Rhea Escobar; siblings, William Frutiger, Brenda King, Kathleen (Les) Washburn and Marsha (Otto Jr.) Washburn; Uncle Robert Splinter; Aunt Mary Blalock; nieces and nephews, Michael, Nicole, Kimberly, Keana, Megan, Adam, Aaron, Eric, Alyssa, Kathryn, Jasmine, Joseph, Steven, Jessica, Audrey, Alina, Oliver, Lucie, Anthony, Brandon, Joseph, Zachary, Megan, Sara, Tyler, Danny, and Sara; numerous in-laws, mother-in-law Shirley "Miss K" Kuchta, Lisa (Rod), Laura (Lee), Denise (Kevin), Jenny (Ted), Amy and Joe; Gilberto and Eva Escobar; precious friends, Tom and Tish Walker, Joey Calhoun, Berry Chapman, Tony Vines, Billy Double, Norine Myrickn, Brenda Ganger and Nick Aytes, Michael and Ashley Becker, Michael and Sherry Becker, Jimbo Coyer, Chelsea and Joe Oliver and Pastor Bill of the Ann Arbor Assembly of God; along with numerous other friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother Barbara, father Carloe,  Grandma and Grandpa Splinter, Grandma and Grandpa Carter, Aunt Dee, Uncle Bill, father-in-law, Dennis, sister-in-law Katie, Grammy and Papa Kenny, and Nana and Gramps Kuchta.

There will be a funeral service at the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene (12023 Waller Rd, Charlevoix, MI 49720) on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor John Carr will officiate.
