Carolyn Mary Christensen, 81, of East Jordan died September 14, 2023 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, surrounded by family. Carolyn was born in St. Clair on November 3, 1941, the daughter of David and Thelma (Weitzman) Earl. She was raised in Marine City and attended Eastern Michigan University. She taught elementary school for 30 years. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, puzzles, camping, donating her time to charity, and spending time with her beloved family and dogs.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 59 years Erick Christensen; their children, Todd Christensen (Janniche) of Atlanta, GA, and Tom (Fiancé Lisa Scholl) Christensen of Lakes of the North; grandchildren Jon-Erick, Alexander, Ryan, Catherine, Caroline and Lillian; brothers- and sisters-in-law Theodore Christensen, William (Lynda) Christensen, Kathryn Christensen, Betty Christensen, and Mark (Linda) Christensen; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents David and Thelma Earl, and brother Kenneth Earl.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 19th at Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City with a visitation being held from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City. Pastor Karen Harriman will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family believes Carolyn would prefer donations to Crossroads Ecumenical Resale Shop or East Jordan United Methodist Church.
