Cathy Lou ((McLaughlin)) Scanlon

Cathy Lou Scanlon (McLaughlin), Age 69 of Cheboygan Michigan passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born on June 29, 1955, in St. Johns MI. She grew up in Bath MI, where she attended school. She made a lot of friends along the way.

In her mid-twenties she became a mother to her three sons and to a stepdaughter. She enjoyed making holiday decorations with her children and making them cakes that she decorated for them on the holidays and for their birthdays. 

Cathy was a creative and thoughtful woman. She found great joy in being a caregiver and homemaker throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and footies for the residents at local nursing homes and would create and distribute them as often as she could to keep them warm. She loved country life, being in the woods, and nature. Cathy also enjoyed traveling with her family and made sure to hit up every dollar store along the way.

Cathy proudly collected Elvis Presley memorabilia. She wowed all of her family and friends how extensive her collection was, she had Elvis everything! She had a lot of fun listening to his Music as well!

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Scanlon, and parents Dale & Barbara McLaughlin.

Her survivors include her sons Jushua E. Goggin, Randy J. Goggin, Matthew J. Goggin, Stepdaughter Angela M. Newton, Stepsons Patrick Scanlon, William (Denise) Scanlon, Many beloved Grandchildren, brother Stephen Decker, Dearest friends Cheryl Campbell (Root), and also Warren Gorden.

Cathy's Family will be having a private graveside burial on June 5th, 2025, at 11AM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
