Charles Arthur Wenzel, 86, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Charles was born on June 13, 1935 in Flat Rock, Michigan, the son of Carl and Lillian (Borchardt) Wenzel.
Charles served honorably with the United States Army. On August 29, 1959 he married Belenda Reese in Paso Robles, California, who blessed him with 50 years before passing away in 2009.
Charles was hardworking and a loving husband, father, and Papa. He always put his family first. He loved fishing, hunting, sports, gambling, and camping with his family. He always put his family first.
Charles is survived by his five kids, Cynthia Wenzel of Cheboygan, Randy Wenzel of Hesperia, CA, Dale Wenzel, Cathi (Mike) Persons and Jeff (Kathy) Wenzel, also of Cheboygan, seven grandkids, Christina (Randy) Persons of Grayling, Shilah (Michael Villafranca) Persons of Gaylord, Robert Persons of Fort Mohave, Arizona, Carissa (Joseph) Kunz and Ashley Wenzel of Cheboygan, Starr Persons of Big Sky, Montana, and Heather Harris, 15 great grandkids, Karley, Tyler, Zander, Madison, Isaiah, Kayden, Emberlee, Aliah, Ire, Aubrey, Damion, Ale, Maddy, Savannah, and Summer, four siblings, Linda (Reaford) Meade, Rudy Wenzel, Richard Wenzel, and Barb (Jim) Niefert, 10 nieces, Lois, Kim, Donna, Nancy, Mary, Glenda, Sandy, Susan, Priscilla, and Sheila, seven nephews, Grant, Kelly, Lyle, Gary, Marty, John, and Ricky. Charles also left behind special friends and honorary children, Kathryn Arms and Matt Cronk and their five children.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Belenda, his daughter-in-law, Terri Wenzel, a brother, Robert Wenzel, a sister, Mary Schimmel, four sisters-in-law, Carol and Geri Wenzel, Bettye Pippin, and Lee Hopper, a great granddaughter, Nevaeh Persons, and a Niece, Lynn Barr.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Kleber Pond in Tower on Sunday, October 10 at 1pm. Chaplain Dianne Myers will officiate.
He will be sadly missed. Dad, We All Love You.
