Charles "Chuck" Spencley, 80, died unexpectedly at his home on June 25, 2020.
Chuck was born on March 29, 1940, in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Roy and Edna (Holmes) Spencley. He graduated from Petoskey High School in 1957. Chuck joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1960-1964.
On February 1, 1966, he married Evelyn Wiseman. They would spend the next 54 years happily married. Chuck worked as a welder for General Motors in the Flint area until his retirement at the age of 52.
He liked to golf with his traveling golf club and play poker with friends. Chuck and Evelyn enjoyed traveling together and visiting family in Australia. They were members at Zion United Church of Christ in Brutus.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Evelyn Spencley of Brutus; his step son, Bruce (Irene) Stake; granddaughter, Nicole Marie (Luke) Baretta; great grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia and Lochie; brother, Roger (Nancy) Spencley; sister-in-law, Angie Spencley; niece, Sheila (Michael) Kelley; nephew, Gerald Spencley and his family; and several other nieces and nephews.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; his step son, Alan Stake; and siblings, Richard Holmes, Andrew Spencley, Tom Spencley, Dorothy Balliet, Rosalie Fitzpatrick and Peter Spencley.
The family has decided to remember Chuck privately.
