Cheryl Ann (Birch) Buckstiegel, 67, formerly of Petoskey, Michigan, died December 15, 2025, at the Chesaning Assisted Living and Rehabilitation. After a decade of declining health and cancer, she is now at rest.
Cheryl was born on December 27, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to Bonnie (Gardner) and Miller Birch. She was raised in Flushing, Michigan, where she attended Flushing High School. Cheryl was previously married and was blessed with two daughters, Melody and Jamie.
In her early adult years, Cheryl worked in restaurant management before obtaining her real estate license. She went on to work for Frisbey Real Estate, a career she truly loved and enjoyed.
In 1999, she married Richard Buckstiegel. Together, they shared a love of travel, including memorable trips to Disney and Hawaii. Cheryl also enjoyed crafting, painting, drawing, and creating beaded jewelry. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Petoskey.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Buckstiegel of Petoskey; her daughters, Melody Riley and Jamie Bowers, both of Pellston; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Steve Birch and Junior Birch.
No services are planned at this time. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Michigan Cancer Center.
