Christopher J. Rider

Christopher J. Rider, age 42, of Cheboygan passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at his home.

He was born February 2, 1977 in Rochester, MI, the son of Frank and Barbara (Markos) Rider. In 1982 Chris and his family moved to Cheboygan where he graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1995.

Chris had worked as a financial adviser in the Detroit area for several years before moving to Kentucky where he took a job with P & C as a Senior Financial Analyst for eight years. He went back to college at Western Kentucky University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. He moved back to Cheboygan last December.

Chris was a member of the Pellston Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason and enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, boating and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his parents, Frank and Barb of Cheboygan, one brother, Jeffery (Alicia) Rider of Howell, his grandmother, Noma Markos of Cheboygan, two nieces, Emma and Eleanor Rider of Howell, two special friends, Shane David of Cheboygan and Ann Robinson of KS and his dog, Riley.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clara and Frederick Rider, his maternal grandfather, Michael Markos and his uncle, James Markos.

The funeral service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1:00 PM with the family greeting friends beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Chris Keene will officiate and burial will take place within Pinehill Cemetery.
