On December 16, 1946, Ginger was born to the late Hazen Keene and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Norton in Roscommon, Michigan. She was the middle daughter. Her father gave her the nickname Ginger, as she was a bit fiery!
After marrying she had three children: John David, Elizabeth Ann, and Lori Ann. In the mid 70’s they all moved to Charlevoix. Ginger was an avid animal lover and had several horses. She rode in a few of the Venetian Parades in the 70’s and helped train and break young horses. She eventually started work in the manufacturing world and spent the last 18 years at Walmart, Petoskey, in the deli. Ginger was a very hard worker whose work ethic surpassed many. She loved her job, took it seriously, and made many long-lasting relationships. People will surely say she was a kindhearted, caring, giving person. That is why she was so loved.
Ginger loved her family deeply and is survived by John Maue, Beth (Robert) Flynn, Lori (Randy) Rodes, grandkids Milo, Avery, Carter, and Connor, her beloved furbabies Bobby and Lucy, sister Jenny Avery, several nieces and nephews, and her longtime roommate Judy Pelton. Ginger was preceded by her sister Judy, twin nephews, her father Hazen, and her mother Betty. The family would like to personally thank Hospice of Michigan, as well as the oncology/infusion team at Munson Healthcare, Charlevoix.
Ginger’s services are set to take place on November 12, 2025, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, Michigan. Visitation will start at 4:00 PM, and her memorial service will begin at 5:00 PM.
Ginger loved all animals. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter in her honor.
