Connie Jo (Flum) Whitmore

Connie Jo Whitmore (Flum), 62 of Boyne City, passed away on June 1, 2026, at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She never wavered in her fight and was a true warrior until the very end.

Connie was born on April 27, 1964, in Petoskey, Michigan, to her loving parents Peter and Lois (Carter) Flum. Connie attended school at St. Francis Xavier School in Petoskey from 1st to 8th grade and Petoskey High School from 9th-12th grade. She also attended Baker College of Cadillac where she graduated with both her associate and bachelor’s degrees in medical assisting and psychology.

Connie’s greatest joys throughout life were her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. This did not just include her blood relatives, but all the many kids along the way who claimed her as “Mom”, “Aunt”, “Nana” and “Grandma”. She would gladly take in any child, regardless of their age, if it meant she was helping them in some way. Connie’s door was forever open to anyone and everyone along the way. She was also known as Band Mom and Tour Mom, because every endeavor her children would embark on, she came along to support and be their biggest fan.

Besides her immense love for everyone, she had a great love of puzzles, gnomes, genealogy, painting, crafts and her absolute favorite soap opera. If you asked her how Stephano was, she knew you were talking about that dang villain in Days of Our Lives and could tell you what happened that very day. She spent many hours reading her favorite authors and crafting the craziest dream catchers. Her gnomes were everywhere, even hiding in the showers. She was a crafty soul and always pushing to stimulate her mind.

Connie is survived by her children, Randy Erno, Amy Wingate, Amber Cannon, Kish Whitmore and Ross Whitmore; her grandchildren, Kaydin Howe, Jade Erno, Illianna Norris, Leland Erno, Ila Wood and Sawyer Smith; sisters, Judy Krussell, Patricia Bowen, Michelle Williams, Laverne (Dick) Buffenberger and Rosemary Knapp; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews and even more chosen children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Peter and Lois (Carter) Flum; her sisters, Linda (Flum) Gardner and Tami Flum; and her dear husband Dexter Whitmore.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you send donations to the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders in her memory.

A committal service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., all are welcome to attend. They will be doing a celebration of life later this summer, details to be announced at a later time.
