Dale Richard Lambert, 90, died September 20, 2021 at his home in Pellston with family by his side.
Dale was born on July 29, 1931, in Traverse City, Michigan, the oldest of 11 children to Vern and Louise Lambert. He worked on the family farm and attended school in Bellaire and graduated in 1949.
Shortly after finishing school, he married Charlene Kelly and started a family. They had four children together before their separation.
On September 22, 1973, he married Karen Schultz at the Zion United Church of Christ in Brutus. This year would have marked 48 years happily married.
Dale started his life-long career of being a mechanic with the Antrim County Road Commission and then with the State of Michigan DNR. His last position was with the Department of Corrections working at Camp Pellston until his retirement in 1989.
Karen and Dale loved to square dance and were members of the Harbor Lights and the Petoskey Whirl-A-Ways. They enjoyed traveling together and wintered in Webster, Florida.
He loved anything with a motor and would even spend his free time working on cars and tractors. His attended Fly Wheelers every year and would frequent tractor shows with his friends in Florida, as well. He was a delegate of the MSEA, a union for State of Michigan employees; and a member of the Zion United Church of Christ.
Dale is survived by his wife Karen Lambert of Pellston; their children, Linda Lambert of Traverse City, Cindy Lambert of Traverse City, Marcia Rose Lambert of Tucson, AZ, Bruce (Linda) Lyon of Alanson, Donna Magill of Alanson, and Jeffry Lyon of Pellston; grandchildren, Danny, Jr. (Brandy) Lambert of FL., Erik Lambert of FL., Todd (Nicole) Magill of Alanson, Charles (Lacey) Lyon of Howard City, MI, and Mark Bloomfield of FL.; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Tom Lambert of Waterford, Sally Orr of Sterling, Peg (Doug) Green of White Lake, Rose (Jerry) Bell of PA., Paula Gibson of Plymouth, and Evelyn Lambert of Bellaire; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dale is preceded in death by his sons, Danny Lambert and Keith Lyon; and his siblings, Vernon Lambert, John Lambert, Regina Bible and Katherine Gilbert.
There will be a memorial service held this Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Brutus Zion Community Church at 11:00 a.m. Friends are welcome to gather starting at 10:30 a.m. Please wear a face mask while inside the church.
