Daniel Michael Badalucco

Daniel M. Badalucco, 58 of Pellston, Michigan passed away on May 29, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Dan was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 22, 1963. From the day he joined Tony and Leotah Badalucco in 1964, he has brought joy and happiness into all our lives.

When it was time for them to start school in Detroit Mom would drive 100 miles a day, five days a week for several years to get him back and forth to a private special education program; she was always on lookout for opportunities to improve his life.

After Dad’s retirement in 1973 the four of us moved to Petoskey. Dad and Dan soon teamed up to volunteer for projects at St. Francis Xavier Parish and wherever they could be of help.

Dan attended Petoskey High School in 1982.

He washed dishes at Stafford’s Bay View Inn and enjoyed it for many years. He worked in the mail service at the Petoskey News-Review for a number of years as well.

In keeping with his traditions of volunteering, Dan would take the bus from his home in Pellston into Petoskey once a week to help out at Villa Health Care by calling bingo or playing cards with a group of ladies. Occasionally Linda would tease him about being the old maid in the groups. In typical Dan fashion, he would join in her laughter; he was always a good sport.

In his last years, a number of especially good people have entered his life to help him. You know who you are and our family has thanked you for your many acts of kindness; you made those years better.

He loved people, enjoyed life, and was happy-go-lucky. Several people have told us they think these qualities are worth emulating.

Dan had told us that he hoped some day to join Mom and Dad in heaven. Now he has.

He has left us with some funny anecdotes from his youth and a lifetime of happy memories. He is survived by his six siblings.

A family memorial will take place later this summer.
