David D McKenzie

David D. McKenzie (Dave), 73, of Alanson, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Dave was born on September 24, 1948, in Petoskey, Michigan to Donald and Agnes (Nicholson) McKenzie. He grew up in Flint but moved back to northern Michigan in the early 1970’s. After returning to the area his friend, Jim, invited him to Tower Baptist Church in Tower, MI, where Dave met and fell in love with Marilyn Matts. They were married on August 10, 1974, and were inseparable from that point on. Dave loved the Lord and loved the time that he spent with his wife reading the Bible together. He was an active member at their church, Wolverine Baptist, for almost 40 years where he also enjoyed serving the Lord as the custodian.
 

Throughout his life Dave had a variety of careers, but one thing that remained the same was his exceptional work ethic which he passed on to his three sons. Dave enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, hopping into his truck for road trips, and working in the garage with his boys.
 

Dave was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cared deeply for his family.  He will be greatly missed.
 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Agnes McKenzie, his son, Mark McKenzie, and his sister, Diane Stokes. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; sons Tim McKenzie of Alanson and Joe (Laura Beth) McKenzie of Gobles; grandchildren Madison, Makayla, Dylan, Tyra, Lindzie, Joe Jr., and Luke; and great grandson, Bentley.
 

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 28th at the Wolverine Baptist Church from 10-11am.  A service celebrating Dave’s life will immediately follow at the church at 11am.  Dave will be laid to rest next to his son, Mark, at the Alanson/Littlefield Twp. Cemetery.
