In loving memory of Dennis Martin Mesnard

Dennis Martin Mesnard, age 82, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan.

Dennis Martin was born on February 10, 1939 in Bellevue, Ohio.  He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1957 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy and Air Force, where he proudly served as a Cryptographic Technician for 9 years. He met the love of his life, Paula Ann Mesnard in 1959 while stationed in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in the 753rd Radar Squadron. They married on January 30, 1960 at Nativity Catholic Church in Sault St. Marie, MI.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with friends and family throughout much of his life.  He also enjoyed snowmobiling and played a role in the I-500 Snowmobile Races as a Pit Marshall for many years.  He played tennis and softball, participated in bowling and pinochle leagues, coached youth hockey and enjoyed watching sports on TV.  Dennis Martin had a passion and talent for woodworking and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  He was an extraordinary man that positively impacted family, friends, and community.  Dennis Martin was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey, MI.

Dennis Martin was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary (Heltman) Mesnard and his loving wife of 54 years, Paula Ann Mesnard.

As a loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, Dennis Martin is survived by his four sons and their spouses; Dennis Paul (Carol) Mesnard of Kincheloe MI, Michael (Cynthia) Mesnard of Stanley, WI, Steven (Dionne) Mesnard of Petoskey, MI, and Joel (Tina) Mesnard of Kincheloe, MI; 13 Grandchildren; Scotti-anne (Kyle) McDaniel, Cortney (Kyle) Ward, Chelsea (Dylan) Chapman, Nichole (Brian) Mesnard-Hoaglin, Brooke (Craig) Neuroth, Ashley (Michael) Sopchyk, Nicholas Mesnard, Kennedy Mesnard, Jacqueline (Corey) Ward, Sara (Adam) Sollid, Chad (Amanda) Mesnard, Cody Mesnard, Jadyn Mesnard, and 17 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by his adoring sister Sonia (Mesnard) Furry of North Ridgeville, OH, niece Jodi (Ellis) Stevens, and nephew Jeffrey Furry.

Services will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 513 Howard Street, Petoskey, Michigan 49770.  Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m.  Arrangements handled by Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey, Michigan.
