Dennis R. Woods Sr.

 Dennis R. Woods passed away March 1,2023 at the age of 92 in Indian River, Mi.

   Dennis was born Nov. 12,1930 in Tipton, Mo. He was the son of Lancaster and Ola (Hayes) Woods. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Sedalia, Mo. during the Great Depression Era. He would tell us stories of hard times for himself and his 5 brothers and 3 sisters but had Faith at an early age from his mother Ola. 

 His eldest brother (Harold). moved to Michigan and worked as a Millwright of Local 1102 in Detroit, Mi. One by one he would find work for a brother and bring them up to Mich. to work as a Millwright to better themselves. That was how Dennis met mom. Dennis married Lois R. Sherry from Inkster, Mi. in Dec. 27,1953.  Dennis would tell us a story that when he and my mother (Lois) went on their honeymoon to visit his hometown of Sedalia, Mo. he found draft papers to enlist into the Korean War, for which he did.  Dennis retired in 1988 and moved to Indian River. They enjoyed retired life together until Lois passed away March 6,2021  Lois and Dennis taught Sunday School for close to 55 years, they started teaching at Faith Baptist Church in Dearborn Hts. Mi. and when they moved to Indian River, they taught Sunday School at Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. They were very Faithful and Generous people.

 Dennis was very good at mechanics and welding; he could fix just about anything, he would try to repair anything he could to help anyone, mostly folks from Church., he loved helping, they both did.  He designed and built a 3-wheel motorcycle and Dennis and Lois went coast to coast on it and many other trips. He loved his Machine, as he would call it.

 Dennis is survived by sons Dennis Woods Jr, wife Maryann, Alan Woods wife Pam and Ronnie Woods, grandson Steven Woods and wife Emily and great grandkids Maya and Zacary Woods and step granddaughter Kristen Sanders and great grandkids, Carl, Hailey, and Emma Sanders and several nephews and nieces.

 Dennis was the last to pass in a long line of Woods out of Missouri. besides his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Woods, B,J. Woods, Loyal Woods, Dental Woods and his younger brother Jackie Woods and sisters Maxine Woods, Irene Milano and Lola Jenkins.

  There will be no memorial services and only a grave site gathering.
