Dickie Conrad Obituary

Richard “Dickie” John Conrad, 74, died March 30, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, after suffering complications of Covid-19.

Dickie was born June 27, 1946, the son of Alfred and Mildred (Murankus) Conrad. He attended Central School in Petoskey. He worked at McLaren Hospital in the laundry department and
would occasionally help stock shelves and do odd jobs at Tom and Dicks bottle shop for many years.

Dickie liked arts and crafts, especially beadwork. He would make necklaces and charms as gifts for family and friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling and watching movies in his spare time. He was an animal lover all his life and had several dogs, but his absolute best buddies were Tilly and Scooter. His favorite activity was going to breakfast at Filmore’s with his brother Al.

Dickie is survived by his siblings, Al (Dorothy) Conrad of Petoskey, Susie (John) Coon of Cheboygan, Sally Conrad of Boyne City, Sandy (Earl) Gilmore of Mecosta, and Cara (Pat) Daniel of Petoskey; numerous nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; his care giver for over 20 years, Pam Werth; and his special friend Melissa Sullivan.

Dickie is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Conrad; his mother and step father, Mildred and Fred E. Simpson.

The Conrad family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and all the medical personnel on the Covid unit at McLaren.
