Donald Peter Jacobson, 81, passed away on March 1, 2022 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan, Michigan.
Son of Otto and Virginia (Kime) Jacobson, Don was born on October 3, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Mott High School in Flint, Michigan.
He was united in marriage to Rosemary Ballinger on June 17, 1960. She preceded him in death in 2003.
On September 18, 2004, Don was united in marriage to Karen Braeger and they made their home in Petoskey, Michigan.
Don began working for General Motors, Fisher Body #1 in 1960 and retired in 1987. He moved to East Jordan in 1987 and worked for the East Jordan Iron Works until retiring in 2003.
Don loved being with family and enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, repair work, gardening and helping people. His real passion was helping the poor and enjoyed helping out at Manna Food Project. He loved to make wooden toys, which he would hand out at Christmas to the children who came through the Manna Food Project.
He was a member of Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Harbor Springs, Michigan, and Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey.
Don is survived by his children: Mary (Ed) Egan, Patrick Jacobson, Daniel Jacobson, David Jacobson, and Bradley Jacobson; his stepdaughters Tracy Mueller and Amy (Joe) Decker; his 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; his 2 step-grandchildren; his siblings Carol Frantom and Susan (David) Grutsch; and his son-in-law Scott Haley.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Ballinger and wife Karen Braeger; his parents Otto and Virginia Jacobson; his daughters Susan Haley and Stephanie Jacobson; and his brother Stephan (Janet) Jacobson.
A private visitation and service will be held at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on March 4, 2022 and will be officiated by Pastor Matthew Peters. Memorial donations can be made to Manna Food Project of Emmet County Friendship Center.
