Donald Morrison Obituary

Donald C. Morrison, age 88 of Petoskey, Michigan, died September 29, 2025 at home.  He was born September 26, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Charles ‘Jack’ and Anna Morrison.  Don worked on his family farm growing up and also in a pickle factory.  He enjoyed playing basketball in high school. Some knew him by his nickname, ‘Duck.’  

Don married Roselind Houston on September 12, 1959 in Scottville, Michigan and they were blessed with 52 memorable years together.  He was on a bowling league, loved country music, playing his guitar and singing and was a member of a band for many years playing for many different occasions.  He worked as a machinist for many years in Big Rapids before taking a job with Michigan Bell, which led the family to Northern Michigan.  He retired from Michigan Bell as a Supervisor of many areas.  In his retirement years, Don worked part-time welding docks, sports retail store and landscaping. He continued playing and singing with friends for area nursing homes.  Don attended Zion Lutheran church and became an elder and served on the Building Use Committee.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman during his life and also loved NASCAR.  

Family and friends knew they could come to him for advice and help.  He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Don loved The Lord and his family.  Don is preceded in death by his wife, Roselind, survived by two children, David (Nancy) Morrison of Hudsonville, MI, Cindy (Ken) Pallagi of Boyne City, MI. Don was blessed with four grandchildren, Dan Morrison, Kelsey (Bruce) Gerber, Trent (Cassy) Pallagi and Allyson (Matt) Rinock and two great grandchildren Alayna and Selah Gerber.  He is survived by brothers, Dewey and Mike Morrison and sister Patti Kowaleski and many nieces and nephews.  

Funeral will take place at Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey, MI on Thursday, October 9, at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00 am with service concluding at Greenwood Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to return to the church immediately following for a luncheon lovingly prepared by the Mary Martha Society ladies.  

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of choice.
