Donald Edward Wright passed away peacefully on August 16,2025, at his home in Cheboygan, MI, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was 90 years old.
Donald was the youngest of two boys and was born on January 22,1935 in Detroit, MI to Edward Wright and Mary Bell Goff. (Maiden name)
As a young man, Don, (as he was called by his friends and family) proudly served on the United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw during icebreaking season and rescue operations on the Great Lakes. After completing his USCGC service, Don returned to Detroit to work for the National Bank Of Detroit. It was there, in Detroit on May 24,1958, that Don married the love of his life, Patricia Ardanowski. Pat and Don had three beautiful children and started their life together on the west side of the City Of Detroit. When opportunity knocked, Don left the National Bank Of Detroit for a position in the Merchandising Department of Ford Tractor/Ford New Holland Tractor. Don stayed with Ford Tractor until his retirement. Although Don and Pat worked and raised their children in the City Of Detroit and the city of Sterling Heights, they never lost their love for the beauty and lifestyle of Northern Michigan and shortly after retiring, Don and Pat moved back up-north to a lakefront home on the shores of Black Lake.
Retirement meant there was time for things that Don and Pat really enjoyed like traveling, visiting and visits from the grandchildren, singing in the choir at St. Mary's/St. Charles Catholic Church and reading and rereading the local newspapers from cover to cover. Don enjoyed being a member of The Knights Of Columbus and volunteering at the Cheboygan Opera House as an usher and set builder.
Don is survived by his spouse Patricia Wright, his children, Cheryl (James D'Amico), Donald Jr. (Anne) Wright, Douglas (Melba) Wright and his grandchildren James 'Gus' (Kaitlin) D'Amico, Dominic 'Iggy' D'Amico, Deborah Wright, Donald III (Shaina) Wright, Kristopher Wright and Sydney Wright.
Donald was preceded in death by his older brother Howard Wright.
Visitation is 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on August 28th, 2025 at St. Mary's/St. Charles Catholic Church and will be followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m.
