Donald Gary Olds, 86, of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born on June 6, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Herbert and Helen Olds. After graduating from Cody High School in Detroit, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Walsh Business School. He later became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and, alongside three partners, co-founded Guest, Olds and West LLC, where he faithfully practiced for 50 years. His integrity, dedication, and mentorship shaped not only a successful career but also left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.

In 1967, Don married the love of his life, Mary DiLorenzo, and together they raised four boys. Don found his greatest joy in family—cherishing vacations in Florida, South Carolina, and at family homes in Glen Arbor and Petoskey. Known for his warm presence, he was an avid reader and always enjoyed family gatherings, where laughter and togetherness were his passion. Don lived life with generosity, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary; his children Douglas (Bonnie), Dr. Gregory (Sarah), Michael, and Dr. Steven (Dr. Nicole); his brother Herbert (Elaine) Olds; his sister Pamela (Dr. Thomas) Haupt; and his beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan (Annie), Evan, James, Luke, Annie, Anson, Sienna, Landry, Eamon, and Asa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Helen.

Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The family deeply appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
