Donna Elliott Obituary

Donna LaJean Elliott passed peacefully away on March 14, 2025, at the well-earned age of 98 years. Donna was born in North English, Iowa on February 19, 1927 and later moved to Cedar Rapids, IA where she was raised by Earl and Ethyl Cheney. She enlisted in the WAVES in 1951 to serve her country. While stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Academy she met her future husband who was a native of Cheboygan where they returned to raise their children.

She was a happy go lucky woman who loved jazz and fondly recalled her days of jitterbug competitions and meeting famous musicians at Chicago jazz clubs. She was a wonderful cook – no one could make French toast better than her – and was a kind soul who took great pleasure in making her grandchildren laugh, sharing silly jokes and stories. After retiring, she worked as a Senior Companion well into her 80s and continued to bring joy to the lives of others. Her loving son Howard remained a steadfast caretaker enabling her to spend her last days at home as she wished.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Elliott and her two sons, Randall C Elliott and Paul A. Elliott. Her loving son and daughter, Howard B Elliott, Karen (Marlow) Grant, and daughter in law Phyllis Elliott survive her together with grandchildren Jason Elliott, Clinton Elliott, Miranda Grant, Blair DelColle, Crystal Hunt and Kerrie Murphy, seven great grandchildren and many cousins.

A graveside memorial will be held in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed toward the family in care of her son, Howard Elliott.
