Obituary

Donna Mae Moll, age 92 of Boyne City passed away on July 9, 2020 at Independence Village in Petoskey.

Donna was born on July 22, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Ed and Edna (Wagner) Boettcher. She attended Dominican High School in Detroit and then Wayne State University graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree in education. Following graduation, she moved to Boyne City and taught in the Boyne City Elementary and High School. On June 17, 1950 she married Charles William Moll; Chuck worked as the COO for Boyne USA from 1950-1985.

Together they had four children Connie Moll, Christine “Chris” (Frank) Carleton, Charles “Cam” (Joan) Moll and Cathleen “Kati” (Frank) Shumway.  Donna is survived by her sisters Sr. Shirley Boettcher and Elaine Marcotte; grandchildren Natalie (Carleton) Watkins, Peter Carleton, Lisa Carleton and Charles “C.J.” Moll and 2 great grandchildren (Brandon and Charlie Watkins)

Donna is preceded in death by her husband Charles Moll, daughter Kati and sister Phyllis Wesley

Donna was very active in the community; she was involved as a Girl Scout leader and Troop Organizer for twenty-five years, Citizens Advisory Council, St. Matthew Alter Guild and CCD teacher, Community Chest board, life member Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1965, twenty years riding the Dalmac, CHIPPS member, Child Study Club member, North Country Cycle Club member, Garden Club, Sommerset Country Club, Clinton River Ski Club and honorary member of Friends of Boyne River.   Donna enjoyed skiing, biking, golf, photography, pressed flower card making, and travel.

Due to current health concerns regarding Covid-19 a memorial mass will be held at a later date when all of the Donna’s family and friends are able to come together and celebrate Donna’s life. 

Memorial donations may be directed Grandvue Medical Care Facility, Friends of the Boyne River or the Charlevoix County History Preservation Society.
