Dora Dickey Obituary

Dora Lee Dickey, 88, of Alanson, died January 5, 2026, at her home with family by her side.

Dora was born on July 15, 1937, the daughter of James and Violet (Stevens) Honeysette. She attended Alanson schools, where she met the love of her life Lloyd Dickey. They were married on July 3, 1954. Together they made their home in Alanson and raised six children.

Dora worked at the Emmet County Care Facility (now Bay Bluffs) as a housekeeper until her retirement in the 1980s. She loved her position there and being able to provide care for the residents in her own small way.

She was a member of the Alanson Women’s Club where she assisted with multiple fundraising efforts for the fire department, community playground, and other local organizations. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society where she made countless friends.

One of her greatest joys was spoiling her grandchildren, she loved taking them to dinner dates and to see movies. She will be remembered for her cooking and baking skills, especially during Christmastime. She often had a sassy side which would show through in her sparkling green eyes. Dora will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris (Brian) Welch of Alanson, Michigan, and Marilyn (Paul) Craft of Florida; her Great Aunt Anna Kuebler who was lovingly referred to as “Mama K”; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and even great-great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Holly.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; and her children Linda Dickey, Rose Kilmer, Jim Dickey, and Dan Dickey.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey.
