Dorothy Ellen Burnett, 86 of Petoskey, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Daughter of Casimer and Olzie (Spurlock) Kolinske, Dorothy was born on June 20, 1935 in Petoskey. She attended school at St. Francis Xavier.
On May 15, 1953, she married Charles Burnett at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Dorothy worked as a waitress at the Petoskey Bay View Country Club and Terrace Inn. She also was a housekeeper for several families with cottages on Walloon Lake.
Dorothy’s children and grandchildren meant the world to her.
She always wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat. She loved ice cream and peanut butter. Dorothy loved entertaining and always had a Halloween pizza party.
Dorothy was scared to fly, but with the help of her daughter Vickie and grandniece Rachael, visited her sister Ruth in Easton, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her children: Dana (Sharon) Burnett, Keven (Lisa) Burnett, Vickie (Steve) LaVictor; her son-in-law William Murphy; her grandchildren: Derek (Keeley) LaVictor; Justin (Jennifer) LaVictor, Christopher Burnett, and Cayleigh Burnett; her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Landon, Sawyer, and Jennelle LaVictor; her siblings Ruth (Richard) Vargo and Casimer (Sue) Kolinske, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Charles Burnett; her parents Casimer and Olzie Kolinske; her daughter Chere Murphy; and her siblings Virginia Leist and James Kolinske.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Dorothy’s memory are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or McLaren Hospice.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be officiated by Father Dennis Stilwell on July 24, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Stone Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and burial at Ohioville Cemetery will follow the service.
