Dr. Robert Darnell

Robert “Bob” Darnell, husband and father, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2021.

He will be remembered for the love of his family, exciting adventurous family travels and his original sense of humor. This loving and caring man has left a permanent mark on our hearts and will be forever missed. His life was well-lived and he was well-loved. Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the joy he brought to our family.

A University of Michigan Dental School graduate, he practiced for 40 years in Cheboygan. He had a love of flying his sea plane, motorcycle trips with his son and skiing trips with family were a joy in his early years

Greatly missed by his wife and treasured companion, Karen S. (Nelson) Darnell, he is also the honored and proud father of Lynda, Laura and Chad, and cherishing Nikki Darnell and Heather Marney. He was blessed with grandchildren, Haley Snodgrass, Trevor Snodgrass, Spencer Snodgrass, Randy Parks, Tyler Parks, Jonathan and Emma Darnell. He was able to enjoy the news of his first great grandson, Nolan Parks.

Robert is survived by his brothers, James “Bud” and Donald Darnell, and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Judi Darnell and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Edith (Budge) Darnell and his brother David Darnell.

The family would like to thank the professionals, nurses and caretakers of Hospice in Cheboygan, whom assisted with his care during this difficult time.
