Dustin Pearson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dustin Jared Pearson, 40, of Mount Pleasant, MI, who died peacefully at 11:27 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. His selflessness lives on through the gift of life for others through organ and tissue donation.

Dustin was born April 1, 1985, in Petoskey, MI, the son of John and Kimberly (LaPrairie) Pearson.

Dustin grew up in Indian River, MI, and attended Inland Lakes High School. He met his wife, Devan, in 2009, joined her in Mount Pleasant in 2010, and they were married in Petoskey on June 23, 2012. He was a regional manager at B&B Oilfield Equipment Corporation. Dustin was an incredible person, who was a “jack of all trades”, selfless, compassionate, and full of life, who could really hit the dance floor. He loved racing boats and was a member of the APBA and was inducted in the Hall of Champions in 2023. He felt honored to be invited to race in Ecuador, and Top O’ Michigan was something he looked forward to every summer. He also enjoyed playing ice hockey and hunting. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family being a loving husband to Devan, an amazing father to Reed and Baker, a brother, a son, and friend. Dustin will always be remembered for his ability to bring everyone together and make people laugh. He will be tremendously missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul Eugene and Margaret Helen (Mishaga) Pearson, and Howard and Elizabeth Luella (Lemuel) LaPrairie.

He is survived by his wife, Devan Pearson of Mount Pleasant, MI; children, Reed and Baker Pearson of Mount Pleasant, MI; parents, John and Kimberly Pearson of Indian River, MI; sister, Ashley Boilard of Harbor Springs, MI; brother, Jeremy (Libby) Pearson of Boyne City, MI; mother-in-law, Joslyn Sainsbury of Mount Pleasant, MI; father-in-law, Hal (Erin) Banks of Mount Pleasant, MI; sister-in-law, Danielle (Adam) Brickner of Greensburg, PA; nieces and nephews, Ayla & Ellery Brickner, Bruce Boilard, and Everly and Wilhelmina Pearson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and cherished fur babies, Indy and Bauer.

The family will host a Funeral Mass at Cross In The Woods Catholic Shrine on Wednesday August 13th, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, with the mass beginning right after the visitation (12pm). The burial will be at Catholic Shrine Cemetery immediately following the mass.
