Edith Mae Hickman (Keck), age 81, of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 10, 2025.
Edith was born on September 11, 1944, in Petoskey, to Phyllis and Frank Keck. A lifelong resident of Petoskey, she cherished her hometown and the community that surrounded her throughout her life. She graduated from Petoskey High School and remained close to many friends she made there.
On August 3, 1963, Edith married Herbert “Doug” Hickman, and together they built a loving home and family in Petoskey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Herbert “Doug” Hickman, and her sister, Judy Frost.
Edith is lovingly remembered by her three children, Steve Hickman (Jill Cornwell), Sharon (Rob) Howery, and Kathy (Kam) Culbertson; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Briana) Howery, Ryan (Morgan) Howery, and Quinn and Lucy Culbertson; and her brothers, Harold and Fred (Betty) Keck. She is also survived by her very dear friend, Mary Rolls, who held a special place in her heart.
Edith found great joy in tending to her vegetable garden, caring for it with dedication and pride. She worked hard preserving the food she raised and was well known for her delicious pickles and homemade applesauce. She also loved spending time with her friends and family—sharing laughter, stories, and countless cherished moments together. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to her loved ones. Her warmth and love touched all who knew her, and her memory will be treasured forever.
Celebration of Life
A celebration of Edith’s life will be announced by the family at a later date.
