Elaine Ann Pontius

Elaine Ann Pontius, 78, a lifelong resident of Harbor Springs, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2020; surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on September 17, 1941, the youngest of four children born to the late Raymond and Erma Pontius. She graduated from Harbor Springs High School and began working as a caregiver at Emmet County Care Facility. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and caring for family and friends, including her own parents.

Elaine is survived by her siblings, Rodney Pontius, Anita (Norman) Grams and Delores Putman; her nieces and nephews, David Pontius, Fred (Chris) Grams, Lynda (Brian) Crawford, Bobby (Debbie) Krussell, Raymond (Becky) Krussell, and DeAnn (Jim) Reed; great nieces and nephews, Alyssa Grams, Austin Grams, Patrick Gentry, Coty Crawford, Haley Crawford, Melissa Krussell, Ashley Krussell, Joey Krussell and Carrie Krussell; she is also survived by her dearest friends, Susan Ford, Marlis Hibbler, and Tim and Diane Burke; and her furry companion, Alyssa, who she loved dearly.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Norma Pontius Winner; brother-in-law, Dave Winner; sister-in-law, Shirley Pontius; and brother-in-law, Ernest Putman.

There will be a visitation at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friends and family must wear a face mask or covering to enter the funeral home and we ask that you maintain social distancing guidelines while inside the building.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. as we lay Elaine to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs. Pastor Matthew Peters will officiate the service.

Elaine deeply loved and cared for her dogs, to honor Boots, Cuddles, Shammy and Parker, her family has asked that any memorial donations go to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society or her church, Zion Lutheran in Petoskey.
