Eleanor I. (Guerin) Theaker, 94 of Petoskey, Michigan, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior at Medilodge in Rogers City on July 17,2021.
She was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Lewis) Guerin, and was born on September 3, 1926 on the family farm in Vanderbilt, Michigan. Eleanor spent most of her early years raising dairy cattle and crops with four of her sisters, Emily, Adeline, Frieda and Almina on her parent’s farm. She grew up in Vanderbilt and graduate from Vanderbilt High School. On July 25, 1948, she married Robert H. Theaker in Gaylord. After their marriage, Eleanor and Robert moved to Wolverine, Michigan. Together they owned and operated a large dairy cattle operation while raising three children, Robert, Barbara and Ruth. Eleanor continued to own and operate the diary farm for many years after her husbands passing. Eleanor moved to Petoskey in 1999 to be near her grandchildren. She worked in the laundry department at Northern Michigan Hospital for 25 years. Eleanor loved the Lord and was an active member of the Wolverine Baptist Church where she faithfully attended services and played the organ for 57 years.
She is survived by her children Robert (Vicky) Theaker of Grand Rapids and Ruth (Rex) Theaker-Walters of Petoskey, grandchildren Kayla (Ben) Vandyke, Sari (Tim) Bauer, Luke (Kelly) Theaker, Jewel Walters, Matthew Walters and 10 great-grandchildren. Eleanor is lovingly remembered by sisters Marlene Guerin and Adeline (Guerin) Ashley along with many nieces and nephews; in particular nephew, Edward Koehler who spent much time with Eleanor.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert H. Theaker, daughter Barbara Taylor, newborn son, parents, and siblings Emily Koehler, Frieda Detzler and Almina Peters.
A memorial service will take place at the Wolverine Baptist Church on July 20, 2021 at 11am with the family greeting friends and relatives beginning at 10am.
Eleanor loved her church and church family, so, in lieu of flowers; a memorial suggestion would be a donation to the Wolverine Baptist Church General Fund.
