Elton “Gene” Eugene Greenacre, 73, of Alanson, died October 21, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born on February 10, 1952, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Suzor) Greenacre. He attended school in Alanson before joining the United States Army. Gene proudly served his country from 1970-1972 with a tour in Germany.
Upon returning home from service, he married his sweetheart Donna Kuebler, on December 16, 1972.
Although Gene held many jobs as a young man, he spent most of his career at North Central Michigan College as the Physical Plant Director. He retired from NCMC after 30 years. He served on the Alanson Fire Department for 41 years, retiring as Assistant Chief. He also served on the zoning and fire board.
In his spare time, Gene enjoyed boat racing and collecting and refurbishing antique cars and snowmobiles. His greatest passion was hunting. He looked forward to opening day of deer season every year.
Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Greenacre; their children Randy and Brian (Deb), sister Etta Myers; sisters-in-law Kay Greenacre and Marceil Lasley; brother-in-law Joe Frazier; grandson Dakoda (Ali); and great-granddaughter Lillian; Gene and Heather; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Doug and Lester Greenacre; sisters-in-law, Mary Frazier, and Jude Kuebler; and brother-in-law Larry Kuebler.
There will be a memorial service at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene on November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Ken Smith. There will be a time of gathering at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A potluck lunch will take place at the church immediately following the service. Friends and family are asked to please bring a dish to pass.
