Emma Denise

Emma Jane DeNise, age 97 of Boyne Falls passed away surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

Emma was born on March 31st, 1921 in Roscommon, MI the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Kile) Overmeyer.  She grew up in Boyne Falls and graduated from Boyne Falls High School. In October of 1941 she married Laurence “Herbert” DeNise. Emma was also a member of the Boyne Falls United Methodist Church and was very active in the church when she was younger. She enjoyed bingo and going to the casino.  Emma also enjoyed spending time with her family and the many winters she and Herb would spend at their home in Florida.

Emma is survived by her children Robert DeNise, Richard (Kathie) DeNise and Jolane (Barney) Hess; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ruth; husband Laurence and brother Eugene “Jeep” Overmeyer.

The family would like to thank all the staff and nurses on the 3rd floor at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital for all the care they showed Emma.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 20th at the Boyne Falls United Methodist Church with a visitation being held from 11:00 AM until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Boyne Valley Township Cemetery.
