Eugene Carl Fettig, 92, of Boyne Falls, Michigan, passed away on January 16, 2026, at his home.
Son of Frank and Francis (Sobleski) Fettig, Gene was born on January 27, 1933, in Petoskey, Michigan. He attended St. Francis Catholic School and graduated from Petoskey High School.
Gene served in the United States Army from June 1953 to May 1955. During this time, he was stationed in Germany for one year.
On November 21, 2013, he married Catherine Wohlscheid in Petoskey.
Gene worked for a few factories and was a manager at Curtis Wire in Petoskey for many years. He also was a mechanic at Poquette Leasing Company in Petoskey and did small engine repair work. Gene was also a farmer his whole life by growing up on the family farm and keeping a small farm at his place for many years.
In his younger years he was a very good league bowler. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and bird watching. His favorite activity to do was deer hunting.
Gene loved his family and was there for everyone. He had an abundance of love to give to all the children and grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and French bulldog Kippy.
Gene is preceded in death by his first wife, parents, children, grandchild, and siblings.
Per Gene’s wishes there will be no funeral services at this time.
