Eugene William Sineway, age 63, of Pellston, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2026.
Eugene was born to Paul William and Ila Sineway on June 9, 1962, in Petoskey, Michigan, and was baptized at Greensky Hill Indian United Methodist Church. He attended Petoskey High School, where he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and participating in Little League during his youth. A lifelong sports fan, Eugene proudly supported the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He attended Bay Mills Community College and later worked in lawn care for Jim Hoffman, logging for Brehley, and in housekeeping at Odawa Casino. Eugene was known as a true outdoorsman to family and friends and was a proud member of the Odawa Tribe.
Eugene enjoyed many active hobbies, including golfing, disc golfing, playing cribbage, and spending time outdoors, always approaching life with a relaxed and easygoing spirit. He had a natural listening ear and was known for never having a bad word to say about anyone.
Eugene is survived by his two sisters, Angie (John Hull) Woodin of Petoskey and Yvonne Sineway of Petoskey; and his six nieces and nephews: Paul Nanegos, Cody Woodin, YaLynn Nanegos, James Nanegos, Jenny Nanegos, Charlee (Hunter) Viles, and Mike (Mary) Reffner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers: Ted, Evert, Virgil, Jake, and Steven; as well as his nephew Jacob.
Services for Eugene will take place at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, Michigan, on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Sarah Sheaffer. Burial will take place at Greensky Hill Cemetery in the spring.
