Evert W. Sineway, 60, of Alanson, walked on July 17, 2025.
Evert was born on February 9, 1965, in Petoskey to Paul W. and Ila M. (Boyd) Sineway. He grew up in Petoskey and graduated from Petoskey High School with the class of 1983.
After high school, Evert began his career as a printer at Mitchell Graphics and later worked at Graphic Printing until 2017, when health challenges made it difficult for him to continue.
In 1998, Evert began a relationship with Carol Vroman, and the two became lifelong partners.
Evert was a gifted storyteller with the “gift of gab,” always ready to share a laugh or a tale. He loved entertaining friends and family, especially when it came to the after-party. He enjoyed games of all kinds, from card games like Stratego, Phase 10, and euchre to board games like Clue, BINGO, and puzzles. He also enjoyed bowling and casino trips.
Golf was one of his great passions, as were NASCAR races, Denny Hamlin being his favorite driver. He was also an avid baseball fan who especially followed the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Over the years, he built a treasured collection of baseball cards.
He is survived by his life-partner, Carol Vroman of Alanson; siblings, Angie Woodin (John Hull) of Petoskey, Eugene Sineway of Pellston, and Yvonne Sineway of Petoskey; nieces and nephews, Cody Woodin, Charlee (Hunter) Viles, Mike Reffner, Paul Nanegos, YaLynn Nanegos, James Nanegos, and Jenny Nanegos; great nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Gibbs and McGee.
Evert is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Virgil, Jake, Ted, and Steven.
There will be a visitation at Greensky Hill United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and again on July 24 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Greensky Hill United Methodist Church. Pastor Sarah Sheaffer will officiate.
Arrangements are in the care of Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey.
